About
The Samian Association of South Australia ‘Pythagoras’ Inc is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1961 by Greek migrants from the island of Samos, Greece. Proudly named after the great philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, our Association is based in Adelaide and remains a vibrant part of South Australia’s Hellenic community.
Our vision is to cultivate Samian identity, traditions, and culture by fostering strong relationships between people of Samian heritage and philhellenes. We aim to promote unity, friendship, and a lasting connection to our roots while nurturing the next generation’s understanding of Hellenic ethos, language, and values.
We facilitate cultural, educational, and social exchanges with communities in Greece and Australia, while also supporting local causes through charitable giving. We proudly honour significant Samian dates including the:
- Liberation of Samos (6 August 1824)
- Unification with Greece (11 November 1912)
- Founding of our Association (14 October 1961)
Open to all with an interest in Samian heritage, we welcome new members and encourage participation in our events, initiatives, and community life.
